Synopsis: Based upon two of the first films ever made, "Life On The Moon" is a trippy, adult comedy from the team that brought you "The 40-Year-Old Virgin". The story begins when the Wizard King of Hadenhughlie (Robin Williams) seems to be in a magical slump because his happiness charms stopped working, but that soon changes when the Dark Wizard (David Cross) challenges him to find life on the Moon and bring proof back to Earth. The Wizard King then creates a device that will shoot him and four other wizards to the Moon, and those wizards are: Dlinkinschpiel (Steve Carell), the flamboyant scientist who aided in the construction of the machine; Kappho (Chris Rock), a spiritual wizard who has lost his lust for magic and has turned to liquor; Speartin (Paul Rudd), an arrogant wizard-Olympics champion; and John (Will Ferrell), who may or may not be a real wizard. The team makes it to the moon and encounters the Soleads, a moon people led by King Ashtun (Michael Gambon) and Queen Helias (Helena Bonham Carter). The team must fight for survival and save the happiness or Hadenhughlie will be forever doomed.

What the press would say:

In the latest cinematic venture from the hilarious team that brought you "The 40-Year-Old Virgin", Judd Apatow directs a zany tale about a group of wizards who travel to the Moon with the intent of discovering life. Robin Williams stars as the Head Wizard who is in a magical slump and tries to get out of it by betting the Dark Wizard, hilariously played by David Cross, that there is life on the Moon. He gets a team together who go to the Moon, which in no way resembles the true landscape or atmosphere, and they battle tribes of moon people who want the invaders off their planet. Robin Williams returns to comic form in his best role since "Mrs. Doubtfire" and Steve Carell stands out as the obviously gay inventor of the spaceship. Will Ferrell plays a very serious role in this comedy as a person who may or may not have magical powers and seems to be the rule enforcer of the group. Chris Rock and Paul Rudd make up the remainder of the team but don't provide as much comic power as the other three. David Cross is definitely the funniest character in the whole movie, even though he only appears for ten minutes, playing the fun-and-fancy-free Dark Wizard who challenges Williams' character. The film is simply amazing; from the set design to the makeup to the screenplay, which was loosely based upon two short silent films from the early 1900s.
